Robots for furniture manufacturing: panel handling, machine loading, sanding, and painting
The robot, with a vacuum grip, handles heavy and large sheets.
Cutting, edging, and drilling are performed without waiting for the operator.
Sanding and varnishing are applied uniformly to the entire batch.
Robot, gripper, communication with machines, program, start-up.
01 Who is this offer for?
For furniture production managers and technicians, where sheets and parts are manually moved, and facades are sanded and painted by people.
Furniture production involves a lot of heavy and dusty work: moving sheets, loading machines, sanding, and painting. Robots take over these tasks and work in shifts.
02 Why is this beneficial for the factory?
People don't lift heavy sheets all day – reducing the risk of injury.
The vacuum gripper does not scratch or damage the edge of the sheet.
Cutting and edging machines operate continuously.
Robotic grinding and painting – without streaks or variations.
Production can be planned, not adapted to the availability of personnel.
We calculate in advance: personnel, defects in panels and facades, machine downtime. The calculation is free.
03How a Robotic Work Cell Operates
Panels are placed on the machine or in the warehouse.
The robot picks up the top sheet using a vacuum gripper; the camera checks its position.
The sheet is placed on the cutting or edgebanding machine.
While the machine is working, the robot prepares the next sheet or unloads parts.
Finished parts are placed in a stack or on a cart according to order.
04What do robots do in furniture manufacturing?
One robot can handle multiple operations simultaneously, as demonstrated by the digital twin of Robot1 before purchase.
| The operation | What the robot provides |
|---|---|
| Handling of MDF, particleboard, and plywood panels. | Without heavy labor and damage to edges. |
| Loading of cutting and edgebanding machines. | Machines do not wait for an operator. |
| Surface finishing | Uniform surface roughness for subsequent coating. |
| Painting and varnishing | Even coating with no streaks across the entire batch. |
05 Which robots do we work with?
Six-axis industrial robots with a good balance of price and performance offer a quick return on investment. Our Robot1 program allows you to control them from a computer.
Collaborative robots with built-in cameras – when humans and robots work side-by-side in a limited space.
We select a robot based on the weight of the product, reach, cycle time, and budget. We develop the program and communication with the equipment specifically for the chosen robot.
06 First, on the digital twin
Before purchasing the robot, we set up your equipment, the robot, containers, and product placement on a 3D model within the Robot1 program. This allows you to see if the robot reaches every point, how long the cycle takes, and how many products it will process per shift. You make decisions based on the data, not just visual inspection.
07 How to Calculate the Benefits for Your Property
- How many people are involved in moving panels and loading machines, and what is the hourly cost of their labor;
- How many panels and facades are rejected due to damage and uneven coating;
- How long do the machines wait for loading;
- What is the cost of automation: the robot, vacuum gripper, communication with the machines, and setup.
The payback period is the cost of the cell, divided by the annual savings and additional output. Please provide the data – we will calculate it for free.
08 How to get started
Please send a video of the work area, photos, or drawings of the product, and the desired production rate.
We will propose a cell layout, robot, and equipment, specify the timeline and cost.
We will demonstrate the cell on a digital twin and calculate the cycle time.
Delivery, installation, programming, startup, and training for your employees.
We will come to your site and demonstrate the robot on our stand in Minsk. The use of robots may be eligible for tax benefits under Decree No. 198 – more details can be found on the page “Robotization of Production in Belarus”.
